The shut down has nothing to do with Socialism or capitalism.. The SOLUTION for better or worse was Socialistic with rent, mortgage, credit card, car and student loan moratoriums. Along with sending stimulus checks to everyone and enhanced unemployment.. Was it necessary to help support people under those circumstances..if the govt did not take the action that it did...a huge number of people would be homeless and hungry today leading to the instability of civil unrest. Also the help given kept the economy from completely seizing up. It put some money in peoples pockets..
It is what it was and is..with out value judgement being placed. Even Kudlow the revaunchist capitalist was talking socialistic solutions..So the US has arrived at being a Socialist nation with a whimper and not a bang..

are you really defending a system that if we didn't shut down, and 3-6 million people died of covid19, that would be a success?
coivd19 currently has about a 2% lethal rate, thats with a healthcare system in intact and not overwhelmed, and with as good of treatments as we can handle after 1.5 years of treating it. had covid19 overwhelmed the healthcare system (as it did in for example, italy) without the shutdown, easily 3-6 million americans would be dead. 3 million is about 1%, and 6 million is assuming the current 2% lethal rate.
so, your straight up saying that we need to sacrifice 3-6 million americans, holocaust magnitude numbers of dead, and that is capitalism? and that is success? and that is what would take to keep capitalism successful?
