I finally convinced my wife to let me kill the old land line phone number. We had had it since we moved into this house 22 years ago.
I had switched to Ooma service years ago, and that is "only" $6.95 per month plus a yearly fee. I looked at the call log and stopped after the last 75 phone calls. 100% spam junk calls, not one legitimate call. The only few people that called it were my MIL and some of my wife's friends.
When we first moved in back then we got a lot of calls looking for Frontier natural gas company as evidently they had the number before us. I finally called information and asked for the number to Frontier Natural gas, and she gave me my number. So I said we have a problem, as that is my number and the phone company is giving it out in error. She said she would set up a trouble ticket and sure enough that got fixed.
So that number can be someone else's junk mail line. It is dead now.
