There is a 987.1 for sale which is relatively reasonable(U$25000), and yes, cars here are expensive due to the 300% import duties and taxes.
I would get the car on the condition that I will be able to do a manual conversion. Is it possible? Manual gearboxes are relatively affordable(on ebay).
Kind Regards,

.the tiptronic is excellent and very convenient. Also built for the long haul.I have one because i have to, but it is enoyable to drive.
