A place about a mile from here sold about 6 months ago. There have been two big MERSK shipping containers in the front yard since the time of the sale. Seemed like a strange place to keep shipping containers. Through the local gossip grapevine we got the story, and it's weird.
The family that sold the house was building a new one, but it wasn't ready by the time the new buyer wanted to move in. They made some deal where the seller would put all their stuff in two shipping containers parked in the front yard and get them within a month.
Something happened, it took longer than a month, and now the guy who bought the house won't let the previous owner on the property to retrieve the containers. The scuttlebutt is that he's really piss about them being there too long and by some logic he's making it so they'll stay there even longer. I don't know if he's holding out for some money or what. It just seems strange. If I had two big MERSK shipping containers in my front yard I'd want them out of there ASAP no matter how pissed off I was.
