Actually, it has happened to me a few times.
I had a rare Defender 90 and, when they went from ordinary to cult status I got bombarded in DC all the time. When I sold it, early internet on Rover's North, I had a guy from Chicago call me and tell me he would beat the offer I accepted by $5k. I said no.
He went into a freaking rage.
Weird.
Same now with the 1996 Land Cruiser - of course in a much less intrusive manner than Skip's episode.
