Upol makes the product for sks and wurth all the same stuff. A cheap gun is $30, set it around 60psi, no it doesn’t make a mess unless your special. You can adjust texture by using more or less air and distance between gun and car. You asked about distance roughly 12 inches or so. No overspray like regular paint because it’s not atomized.
Higher end guns have a nozzle adjustment but not really needed unless your doing a lot of cars and have to match different textures. You can also tint it with acrylic urethane.
