As an example, here is the '88 schematic (but certainly the same for most 84-89 models I believe) :
SRA = ScheinwerferReiningunsAnlage (1 word !) = Headlight washer system
Option code M288
- the F5 connection point is to the light switch, terminal 58 where it get the power for the electronics (so, yes, lights should be on to use it)
- the M57 is to the tacho for some reason
- MP I is the ground connection up front where the battery negative cable connects to the bodywork.
You can see that the power for the motor comes from fuse 3, 25A that is also the fuse for the 'cabrio verdeck'.
