But typically house cats will actively patrol at avoidance intervals, eg, they will go out at times when they are not expected to run into one another.
I didn't witness this specific incident (or the two before it!) but I have seen the cat in question get into it with others; had to break it up with a garden hose once.

Taking these guys to the vet is a PITA right now - everything is booked up until late August. I normally could call or just show up right when they open, to drop him off for when they have some time for him; not this time. I had to take Percy to the emergency vet, where it's $200 just to walk in the door, and then a 4-hour wait.

Now this one has managed to get some sort of gum/tooth/mouth issue in the past day or so on his left/lower jaw. He won't let me get a good picture of it.
