I have a cedar deck and redwood panel fence. So I've also been through a choice of sealants. I googled woodforums and consulted woodyexpert and I finally used Australian Timber Oil Stain for my deck and Ready Seal for the fence. I sealed everything at the same time, three years ago. This year I see my deck needs renovation, in some places it is worn out. I think I'll take Ready Seal this time. First, I liked the process of applying, no stains, no preps, and second, it still looks good on the fence. I understand that it's vertical surface, however, I'll like the result better.
