Heh heh... no kidding. And yes, it was carbureted - Mr. Payne was the guy who S&S hired to get that part of their business sorted. He made these runs on a carb he designed himself and initially made in his own garage. S&S started producing it in both "fuel" and "gas" versions. Here is the early "3" for fuel. Notice the side mounted float bowl.
Warner Riley ran pretty much the same setup in 1972, topping 206 mph. 96" stroker on 92% nitro. Notice the rear sprocket - only 28 teeth (stock on a Sportster back then was 53 teeth). 25 tooth countershaft sprocket (stock was 19 teeth).
