I got a replacement from Stoddard NLA and succeeded in removing the old one. Unfortunately the air flow meter gasket is not included and so I have to wait for that.

It turns out the plastic is all there, it's just the part with the phillips screws is broken off, so I don't know whether it just got old and brittle or what. I can't see how it would have any great amount of stress, with the flexible hose attached.
