I'm pretty sure I was bending the law by even having it with me in IL, much less in the airport, without a FOID. But the ticketing counter guy had to read the instructions for checking it and asked me to lock the slide back for him. Lots of people were staring at that.

I'd probably not try on the left coast, IL, NY, or NJ. I'm sure there's a couple others to avoid as well.
