All the points above about what it takes, the risk, the long hours that business owners put in to build a new business are dead on. After the traitor obama killed the economy, attacked small businesses and high achievers, we Lost a lot of money, our retail stores didn't survive, to make sure the bills were paid so we could reopen, we sold a complete collection of Colt Pythons and Anacondas, in boxes, to keep the entertainment business alive, had to take a loan out against the house.
On the multiple home deal, a good friend, who was career military (almost 50 years) also owned homes in multiple states. When the Navy transferred him to a new duty station, he would go ahead and buy a house. When he was transferred, he would rent out his house and buy one in the new state and as he was transferred, he would do it all over again. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that at some point, the homes are paid off and the rent then is gravy as well as the property increasing in value. That wasn't greed, it was good business sense and planning for his future. On the vacation front, my last one was in 2015 or 16, before that, 2008.
