However we went the EV direction last year, & it fits our situation very well. As I've said before, we use excess solar generation to supply power for the car (we'll see just how much next March when the next true up date arrives). Although EV owners are getting by now on the cheap - energy wise - the governments will be figuring out how to take up the slack (get their pound of flesh) compared to gas revenues, etc. We're all feeling smug right now but after a few years, maybe not so much. We use my Ford passenger van to traveling, camping, hauliing, etc. I'd rather drive it than my wife's Tesla, but they compliment each other very well. The transition to EVs is in the dream stage in terms of infrastructure, and the actual implementation is pretty far off in my opinion. I'm convinced returning to nuclear energy is in our future.

Pretty realistic assessment as far as I'm concerned. Fitting your situation is the key.
I think those pushing the nation going all electric in a short time span are being unrealistic. Too many things to overcome to pull it off rapidly. Everything from the mining of the rare earth metals needed to the power grid upgrades required.
At age 77, I'll let the youngsters deal with the world of 30 years hence. In the meantime, I'll keep on being an environmental sinner while enjoying my V-8 sound.
