An important point to educate now is that with the fall of gas taxes some other revenue collection must take its place.
And there are several options.
One of which, completely says goodbye to privacy as it taxes based on where and when you are.
It would be the most "fair" way of taxing, but it would also give away much of our freedom. Some areas might redzone on taxes becoming prohibitively expensive to all but a few, etc... Not to mention the invasion of privacy.
Less fair, but less invasive, tax by vehichle weight.
Or just roll into being funded in some other way than user based entirely.
Homeschoolers still pay school taxes, so yes, those that don't drive might think it unfair, but we already do such things.
