A few years ago I attended a Hagerty Porsche valuation clinic at one of the large auction houses. It was very informative. Within that meeting the panel there unanimously said that the 944 (all versions) would gain traction in the market & get expensive shortly (because the up & coming buyer pool admired the 944 in their youth). They agreed it was the next appreciating classic. They were right (I also see the 914 doing the same).
I have a 944S that I have owned for nearly 20 years. I like them too.
