Looking very fine!

An etch primer (they contain phosphoric acid) will hang onto the surface well. As will a good 2k epoxy. Then enough layers of high build primer that you can sand then re-apply until there are no scratches showing. 800 grit, then base coat and clear. Or a single stage. It's looking good. Etch primers grip well to carbon steel, alloys, copper, all sorts of metals.
