I think slow doesn't factor at all, in fact I'd say a tuned 3.2 gives more than enough HP to enjoy on a casual backroad drive. I never felt that my puny 2.7 non-S middie was underpowered even at just 150 HP.
Inflation and rise in used car prices, definitely, plus the styling actually has a lot of "cool factor" I think. There are still many potential buyers who grew up in the '80s for whom the G-body was *the* Porsche 911.
