Vern. that is the bigger pot. the one I got it in a few years ago was tiny. But that leads to a clue which is consistent with cliff's comment. Soil Ph. When I put it in the (slightly) bigger pot I used potting mix I already had around the place that is especially for growing tulips. Maybe tulip potting mix has some extreme Ph that tulips like.
