I know what you mean about anxiety. One or two jobs just pulled apart is enough to only want to rely on mechanical fastening. Gluing and epoxying is all about surface prep and using the correct epoxy for the materials. Surgically clean surfaces with some tooth for epoxy to adhere to and anxiety fades away. And using the right epoxy. I repair major cracks in fan housings using a low durometer industrial epoxy. The housing can vibrate with the engine and the epoxy won't fracture.
