actually you roll on the contact cement on the counter top and the laminate. Let it "tack up" and then lay long dowels and flip laminate onto counter top and roll into place.
watch "The Repair Shop" on Netflix, lots of little tricks of the trade on there. Aluminum foil makes a good moldable clamping material.
