Agree on the photos and agree on paying someone to take them if you don't have the equipment/skills to get it right. If you insist on shooting it yourself, do so early, before the sun is above the horizon, or late, after it sets, or find some good shade with interesting lighting. Overcast days are also good. What's bad, as you're probably surmised by now, is direct sunlight.

If you watch BaT you'll see cars sell for thousands less than ones that are similarly equipped, similar miles, similar maintenance history, same color, etc. almost certainly due to the presentation. One guy cheaps out and takes the photos with his camera. The other guy forks over a few-to-several hundred dollars for a some well-composed HDR images with interesting lighting and backgrounds, and using depth of field appropriately. Second guy comes out way ahead.

Of course YMMV, but I've seen this a number of times on BaT and P-Car market.
