I was talking with my brother last weekend and they know several people who are vaccinated that still got the virus. My sister is the same. Both live in highly populated areas. No one is truly exempt which means we're all part of the pool.

Agree with you, especially since the Delta variant is predominant. That leaves vaccinated people to wear a mask indoors. Having been vaccinated does substantially decrease the odds of being infected, though. So that helps a lot.
I'd still get the vaccine even if its effectiveness is 0%. Being close to 99% able to avoid serious illness/death and to avoid overloading the hospitals is the real remaining essential value.
