I don't really see commercials much any more since we cut the cord, but yes, there have been plenty of commercials over the years that ensured that I would never consider the products being advertised.
If they insult my intelligence too much, that's pretty much a guaranteed no sale. That's many/most of them. If I feel like I'm being beat over the head by commercials for the same company over and over and over again, that's also not good. If they can/do afford to pay for that much advertising, then I am less likely to purchase.
Their best bet is to be entertaining/funny. I'm still not terribly swayed by commercials. But at least the funny ones don't make me actively dislike the product/company. I still don't purchase from them. THere have been a bunch of entertaining commercials over the years, I can't remember them all, but things that come to mind the Budweiser frogs, the Geico gecko, the "so easy a cave-man could do it" (Geico too?), maybe the Energizer bunny, the "Smilin' Bob" commercials for Enzyte, and the Dos Equis most interesting man in the world commercials.
