Depending on the neighborhood the dealer should be well lit.
My parent's had their vehichle at a Ford dealer and it was one of many that got jacked and the wheels taken off.
Better lighting would have helped.
One thing I would recommend if you want to teach about being energy effecient in someone's life is to take them somewhere that has an exercise machine hooked up to power lightbulbs.
