I also blame the TV shows. I like most of them but it seems like when a car marque starts getting air time on Chasing Classic Cars or whatever, the car model or marque suddenly starts taking off in price.

I remember a few years ago, Wayne Carini said he didn't know much about Porsche (or Porsh as he called it) and that he didn't typically buy/sell them. FF a couple of years when early 911s started taking off in price and not surprisingly he knew everything about them and was trading them.

Is it the chicken or the egg? TV air time or just interest? I'm sure it is a lot of both but sadly as you say, the hobby gets shut down for most people.
