I would not do it for less than two grand for someone else. I am the worlds slowest mechanic, I admit but it is just tedious slow work in an uncomfortable position.
The local Porsche club is participating with a local car group and we are having a car show in Guthrie, OK that will have a few hundred people. I will ask around there if anyone with old GM cars knows of a mechanic that works on old cars from the 1980s. Most mechanics today are stumped if they can't plug in a computer.
I would like to find a mechanic that is mostly retired, but does repair projects like this for extra cash. I honestly don't know who I could take my El Camino to for work like I just did, if I did not do it myself.
