After watching my then 6 year old daughter somersault, cartwheel, slide headfirst on her back and hit a rock, which restarted the cartwheeling all over again, and eventually got over a cliff on Desperado (the ski run with the most vertical drop in North America) and walk away with a simple fracture to her pelvis and nothing else (no concussion, no spinal damage), I am a big believer in a correct fitting helmet. That helmet was toast afterwards with gauged and a big dent from the rock she hit but it saved her life.

There are lots of places to save money. A helmet is not one of them.

John Condren used to say at the drivers meeting before Chump Car races, ‘if your have a $50 head, get a $50 helmet.’
