All those projects keep you sharp!

At the car car show I was chatting with a guy that had a 1962 Chevy pickup his dad bought new. It was just a farm truck for most of it's life. The guy at the show said he thought about just preserving it that way but decided he would not want to drive as such a primitive truck. So he took it apart, rebuilt everything, did the basic body work, but had a paint pro do a great paint job back to factory color. Then he took a pecan tree on his farm that had died to lumber mill and had boards cut for the bed, and he built the majority of the truck himself. It was a really cool truck with AC, power steering, power disc brakes, and much improved suspension. Still just stock looking wheels and ride height.

We both agreed the hardest part of owning an old vehicle is finding anyone competent to service it. I told him about my "alignment guy" that knows about old vehicles. He said he had a hard time getting some of the parts fabricated to make AC brackets look right, and just the overall machine work to get the engine rebuilt and running right. He did put on a throttle body fuel injection system to make it run better.
