Oklahoma was granted statehood on November 16, 1907. It was the day that the area went dry as prohibition was written into the constitution. Only beer with 3.2% alcohol was considered "non-alcoholic" and could be sold then. On April 7, 1959, Oklahomans went to the polls and finally repealed the prohibition. NOT liquor by the drink, just it would be legal to go to a booze store and get liquor.

It was not until the 1980s that one could get LEAGALLY a drink at a bar or restaurant. Bootlegging was as common as illegal drugs are today across the country.
