It's very "Fargo-esque," or at least resembles the true story that inspired the movie. Certain details are different but the general stupidity and incompetence of everyone involved sure rings a bell.
Crime should always be left up to actual criminals, amateurs always bone the pooch. Sometimes even the pros do as well but when it comes to hiring someone to shoot someone, it's a "don't try this at home" kind of thing. Whenever someone in the news tried to have their wife killed, my dad would always say,
"haven't you ever heard of divorce?"
I was also reminded of one of the more hilarious episodes of The Sopranos, when the rapper hires Bobby Bacala to shoot him in the ass in order to gain street cred. "I don't want to see it coming."
