Here in NM we're like the hummingbird superhighway - usually we'll have a dozen or more feeding or loitering on our canyon-edge lot.

The broad-tailed, calliope and black chinned ones are pretty chill. It's those orange rufous ones that are the real jerks. They seem to leave in late August so there's peace now.

Can you imagine the terror that one of our monster NM ravens would be if crossed with a hummingbird?

We're blissfully mosquito free here so we just leave the doors wide open - this little one got into the house the other year and we got him out safely, after collecting evidence...
