If she wandered off and tried to harm herself, he has zero reason to not cooperate.

The fact he’s silent ( and now missing ) is really bothersome.

She certainly has issues if she’s hitting him while he’s driving.

When I was 17 my then girlfriend would hit me the same way while driving. Couldn’t end that one fast enough. Then she’d claim she was going to harm herself to guilt me into staying.
That went on for far too long.
Finally went our separate ways. The Navy got me, the Air Force got her. Never saw her again.
