I had talked to Larry just after he sold that car. incredible build and it sounded to me like way too much of a beast for track or the street. very different power / tq delivery and I have always heard the 935s were a total beast too. harsh and violent.... and FAST
I sold the 911 project to the same guy who bought my 951 track car and trailer. He is in the process of leaving the Air Force and wanted to get a street/track car and start having some fun. my car was turn-key, needed nothing. so far he has only made it to a few autocross but having fun and enjoying the occasional driving on the street. looking forward to doing HPDE.
when he bought that car and I told him I was considering selling the 911, he said he wanted it, has always lusted for a 911 slantnose. he has degrees in electrical engineering (masters) and mechanical engineering from MIT. so he can handle the project. he also has a few interesting old cars, if I recall an old cadillac herse and an austin mini. his tow vehicle is a older F-350 diesel in great shape, only 80k miles.
so we got the tub on the rotisserie loaded into his trailer. will take a number of trips to get all the parts. he is planning an LS build, not sure which engine he will use. I was considering the LS7, lastest crate engine now wet sump and 560hp/500tq? that is still a LOT in what should be about a 2500lb car. I tend to agree the hot cam LS3 would be a good choice. my project does not have an engine but does have a good 930 4sp that will be perfect for an LS.
also the good is he only lives 50 mi away. so I will get a chance to help him build it and hopefully live long enough to see it built.
so now I have to borrow HIS trailer to get my ultralight plane (quick silver sprint single seat) that is about 200 mi away at a shop that builds them. also taking flying lessons there. going down next week and should be finished with training. we are going over the plane (it was used but in great shape), have done most of the maintenance, such as replace all fuel line, clean carbs, etc. next week we'll get it back together for test flights before I bring it to the airfield near me where it will live and I will fly.
