I have been wearing a costco belt for about a decade now, leather seems to be drying out so it will probably only last another 5-10 years. I am not at all fancy when it comes to fashion so good enough for me.
I am a little fancy when it comes to watches though. I have a few straps made from shell cordovan which are super comfortable and soft, look fantastic imho, and I am told very durable. Made from horse leather and unincorn tears so pretty expensive, but I imagine its a perfect belt material. I know some super fancy shoes are made from it.
