My scenario was with a 964 type regulator on a 3.6.
Sorry for confusion if functionality is different.
Suck on center fitting of fuel regulator and taste gas, diaphragm No good I was told by my wrench. I tasted gas. Purchased aftermarket adjustable fuel regulator. Problem resolved
