Did it make the newspapers when you guys had the chance to take in a game at Candlestick when you were off while the welders were doing their thing? I would want to jump off a sub as soon as it was moving slow enough. You guys riding around in helicopters and submarines, on purpose. No thank you
Did they give y'all liberty there at all? I guess maybe not, too bad, good place for a pea coat
How deep in the water can you start if you are building an island? I guess that would be a matter of time really, how long to haul enough landfill.

We came into dry dock with a 10-12 deg list and were in dry dock a month or so for the emergency work and life aboard went on as normal except no Cat Shots, hahaha. Had to do it fast because we were scheduled for our IO deployment two months later.
When we came back from deployment we went back into Hunters Point dry dock for the formal repairs. They also took the opportunity to change a wobbly prop shaft that had been like that for years. That took several months. Other than moving most everyone into barracks off the boat, we still worked on board. The Navy took advantage of the time, moving up a lot of scheduled overhaul work. I spent most of my time overhauling my antennas and pulling out tons (literally) of old armored cable from disabled/removed systems.
Walking underneath her in the dock was exciting and slightly nauseating.
A cold torpedo isn't going to do anything to the hull except ring like a bell.. Maybe scratch the paint, hahaha.
