What does concern you is that the same State Agency that certifies the pumps is more than likely the same State Agency you call when you suspect you bought a bad tank of fuel.

In Mississippi, it comes under the direction of Agriculture and Commerce. I've called them in the past on an instance where I thought I bought a bad tank of fuel. They sent the inspectors out to the station and took a sample the next morning. On that occasion, they found no water in the fuel and I had a mechanical issue instead of bad fuel. But recently, the neighbor's grand kid had issues with the same station after fueling up his fairly new Z car. He went through the motions with the State Agency and they confirmed water in the fuel. Supposedly the station will pick up the tab to repair his Z car.

NOW.....this is the perfect thread to mention this, as I've been helping my 91 year old Korean War Vet neighbor with his riding mower that wouldn't run. Finally came down to water in his fuel. And he had 2 large jugs about 8 gallons worth.

What do you do with 8 gallons of gasoline that's contaminated with water?

You go get a Mr. Funnel! About $22 (for the 3.5 GPM version) at the local Tractor Supply store. I'm telling you. How this has existed for 13 or more years without my knowledge is beyond me! The damn thing actually works like a champ! Used it just today. HIGHLY recommend!

So, IF (a big if) you can get a syphon hose to the bottom of your tank where the water collects, and run what comes out through one of these? Maybe save yourself a big clean out bill?
