Seems like just the opposite to me. Normal folks should be able to discuss politics without becoming manic. It is no different than discussing walnut trees or dishwashers... and the best solutions. I cannot understand how the go to response is almost always a personal attack...or why someone posting something you disagree with is sufficient reason to decide that you cannot function on the same BBS as that person. If one does not want to discuss whatever topic is being discussed...just click on another thread. It seems to me that those that complain most about political posts in OT actually turn the most threads political. Was just looking at an old thread that had nothing to do with anything even remotely political...yet one of the guys that always complains about politicization of threads quickly turned it to COVID and the morons here that did not agree with his position. Oh well...folks will always disagree on things and the current trend to discourage/prevent any speech (here or elsewhere) that disagrees with the official government viewpoint simply divides us more. When the EEOC ruled that wearing a confederate flag or Gadsden Flag T shirt (Don't tread on me) could be considered punishable harassment I was concerned. When they started blocking websites and news that did not reflect well on one political party, I was very concerned. When one can only consume the ideas/information that the government sees fit...fascism is not far away.
