I also use the little packets. In every corner and where the jamb meets the floor by every door. My fear has always been that if something eats the dead rodent then that animal will also die.
This spring after selling my house we had to rent a storage unit in a field and wooded area. I tried a natural product instead of the typical baits. I spread this product all around the perimiter and pilled small mounds in the corners and by the doors prior to putting the stuff in the storage unit. It was some sort of pressed product that looked like the wood smoker pellets.
Not sure how it has done? I guess I won't know until I empty the unit?
