We lived in an apt for several years before we bought the house that we're in now. Two or Three years ago, the fire alarm went off one night. Almost the same thing had occurred. Tow numbnuts had tried to drive into the covered visitor's parking in a u-haul van in the middle of the night. The thing is we had one of those huge hanging pipes at the entrance to let you know "if you hit this pipe...." The killed a bunch of plumbing from fire sprinklers to a large (8 or 10") main and a bunch of drywall and exit signs (no raw sewage that I noticed). The drivers took off leaving the van where it was stuck, and I heard, even left their dog in the van in a kennel. I never did hear what happened if anything. But the fire alarms didn't get fixed right the first time, so we had 2 other occurrences of random fire alarms at night until the wiring was fixed correctly.
