. I remember being in awe of big azz receivers, and how loud Bose 901s could play back in college (late 70s)... but I got over that

I fell in love with vintage Polk SDA speakers in the late 80s.... own three pairs still, but they need gobs of power, not for volume per se, but "just because"....
I'm also a HUGE fan of Bob Carver's amps.... Rusty is yer man

A pair of Polk SDAs (170 lbs each) and a pair of Carver amps (bridged mono) rated at 1000 watts each will simply rock your world...
