Strong Aurora Boreas forecast for last Saturday night, so up north about an hour and a half to Baker Lake area I went.
Snagged a free camping site closest to the boat launch and great NE view prescribed for such happenings.
Along with 20 or so other like minded peeps, kids and at least one dog watched and waited from sunset to about 9 pm when word circulated the light show forecast shifted to midnight, I saw nary a trace of the lights by eye or full frame camera and then fog formed and ended the show.
I crawled into one 20 degree rated bag, unzipped and tossed another over me.
Stayed just warm enough overnight with a 3.5" REI Basecamp inflatable mattress. Getting soft in my old age!
Ah well, good practice and I did some exploring and found better camping options up lake.
