Bought a 1982 930 when the prices were down. Long life of 930 admiration and then found one! Sold it when the prices rose to get into a 997 GT3. Wonderful car but had to be driven at crazy speeds to get a buzz. Missed everything about the 930. Then in 2018 a local 930 (1982) in my fav color, mocca black (brown) became available. I can't afford to have both so I let the GT car go. No regrets. While I spend more time under than in the 930 catching up on deferred maintenance, I love it. But, this is totally about personal taste. Many prefer the latest model they can get their hands on.
