Made the 5 hour drive to Pacific City Friday before last, raining like mad, hiway 101 closed at Tillamook due to flooding and no cell service in areas had me follow the compass. Hit a nice two lane (Whisky Creek road, sounded fine to me) it had some dicey spots with thankfully only inch's of running water crossing in spots.
Destination was a Bachelors party arranged by my son for his best buddy Luke in the wee village of Tierra Del Mar, featuring no cell service, why talk to people who aren't with you?
Cool upside down boat shaped rental with direct beach access, ping pong in the garage and great views. We stayed till Monday at about 8 am for another insanely monsoon-ish drive back North.
Great timing.
Payoff was the time spent with some of my favorite dudes, visits to Pelican Pub in town for great beer and grub plus, Saturday dawned flippin perfect=clear skies and no wind.
Cape Kiwanda dune and cardio challenge, best part is the sprint down where you fly crazy distances and land cushioned by sand every step
