We did our daughter's in Vegas with a professional Elvis impersonator. We had a stringed quartet that played until the formal part of the reception started. The bride and groom danced to the first song:
Can't Help falling in Love With You and the second song for father/daughter and groom/his mother dance was
Love Me Tender. After Elvis did his show (half a dozen more songs), there was a DJ that did music that was more popular for the younger crowd...but the Elvis theme worked great.
Choosing the music was pretty easy compared to writing the vows and ceremony (and convincing the pastor and two getting married)...as the kids wanted something not very religious and we knew the crowd would not appreciate that (Catholic groom and Protestant bride). Never thought about it until the last minute. We ended up with something that I wrote stealing heavily from the internet that was more traditional and in the end, my daughter loved it (although not at first). I hate to say it, but the wedding and reception is as much about the mothers of the bride and groom and guests as it is about the two getting married...similar to a funeral which is really for the living.
I must say that our daughter's wedding was the biggest and best party ever. We really, really enjoyed it. The bride still talks about it glowingly. Everything turned out perfect. I wish the same for Mike and his family.
