2006 Boxster: Window won’t go all the way up

2006 Boxster. Passenger window stops about.2 inches short of closing, makes grinding sound.

I’ve searched the web, seems that it’s either off the track, or a problem with the regulator assembly and/or motor.

Each time I roll it up, it stops in a slightly different place, accompanied by grinding.

Watching videos, it seems that if the window is still rising, although stopping before the top and making grinding sounds, this would indicate a problem with the regulator assembly catching or binding, and that the motor should be fine, since it is still pushing the window. I’m hoping to replace only the regulator, not the motor as well. Thoughts?

Any thoughts on how to get it closed temporarily, and cost of a fix?

Many thanks.
