I loved my old 914, but I am certainly too old to want a really primitive sports car like it again. I am at a point where the 911 is just what I want, great heater, wonderful air conditioner, decent enough ride for long trips. I can and have done many 900 mile days.

Driving the Macan back from Enid the other day I certainly understand the draw of a true modern car. We were rolling along at 80 MPH, 2,200 RPM with the automatic heat and cooling system set to individual temperatures, the SIRIUS station of my wife's choice was tuned in, with wonderful sound. Pretty much no wind noise at all. And the seats of course are heated or cooled, the steering wheel is heated if needed, the cruise control was set and it keeps that speed going up or down a hill.

Just an amazing vehicle. I still prefer my trust El Camino as a daily driver.

Just yesterday I had to run down to the welding supply store I use to pick up the repaired regulator for my nitrogen bottle. As I got out of my car another customer approached and walked around the Elky, and complimented it, and told me the typical story of how his uncle used to have El Caminos. It is usually a uncle or cousin or best friend that had one for most of the people that chat about it. I can't go a week without someone noticing it and commenting on it. The Macan is just another vehicle and pretty much blends in. The bad news is I can never go to a strip bar, or have an affair while driving the El Camino. On a regular basis one of my friends will mention they saw me in some part of town and knew it was me with such an unique vehicle. The good news is strip bars and affairs are as appealing as setting my hair on fire.
