(not a thousand words but)
When walking the dogs on a clear sunny day with a bright deep blue sky, I hear cawing and screeching above. A half dozen crows are harassing a big tan Coopers Hawk which settles on a telephone right above me, bleeting it's discontent and ruffling it's feathers. It is framed behind by a wall of eternity. I stop and watch for a while. Perhaps my additional proximity makes the crows back off and leave. Another hawk (it's mate) circles above. A man walking another dog rounds the corner and the dogs silently pull their leashes at each other as he passes oblivious of what's happening above. Two Bald Headed Eagles then appear rather low from the treeline right over the hawks, circling and watching our dog fracas. Perhaps the second or third time I've seen them here. Raptors in general finally seem to be returning to this area. I've even heard a loud Great Horned owl on a crisp night last year. Four huge birds right above me on a gorgeous day was quite a sight. No camera.
