It's soggy today because yesterday was a gray drizzly day, and this morning was foggy and drizzly too. So imagine my surprise when I look out the window and see what must be a 30'+ tall fire. The fire is in the direction of the nearest freeway overpass. There's also a small area in the same spot where they sometimes stage gravel for nearby road works.
I called the county sheriff's office and was told that today had a controlled burn going on. It's probably a good day for that. I think it's supposed to continue to be gray and drizzly for the next several days.
